The county's election commission called for a special election to replace Fletcher to be held on November 4th.

Tuesday night, the Greene County Republican Party held a caucus at West Greene High School Wednesday night and nominated Richard Richie Cobble to be the GOP candidate for the 6th District County Commission seat.

The GOP executive committee voted to call for widespread input on who should take Fletcher's place in honor of his decades of public
service
, said Brett Purgason, Greene Co. GOP party chair.

The Greene County Democratic Party also met Tuesday night at the Greene County Courthouse and chose John Waddle.  Waddle was the only candidate in the caucus and previously served on the Greene County Commission, according to Barbara Britton, Greene County Democratic Party Chairwoman.
